SDOF systems - free and forced vibrations, support motion, vibration isolation, transmissibility, Duhamel's integral and its numerical evaluation. MDOF systems - Free vibrations, natural modes, orthogonality conditions, shear frame, matrix iteration for eigenvalues and eigenvectors, forced vibrations, mode superposition method, damping in MDOF systems. Vibrations of beams with different end conditions. Principles of earthquake resistant design, response spectrum and equivalent force concepts, Introduction to design code IS 1893
