Program Educational Objectives

To prepare our graduates
I. to apply environmental engineering knowledge acquired to excel and become leaders in engineering, research, planning & consulting, industry, public health ,         regulatory agencies, policy making and education
II. to develop an ability to analyze the behavior of integrated natural and engineered environmental systems and to design and develop economically, socially and environmentally sustainable infrastructure
III. to think critically, behave ethically and to envisage the technical and social consequences of their actions
IV. to inculcate team-spirit and interpersonal and mass communication skills so as to coordinate and lead multidisciplinary engineering teams in addressing environmental issues
V. to imbibe spirit of inquiry in order to promote keen interest in pursuing higher studies and research
 
Program Outcomes
 
Ability to
A. apply the knowledge of mathematics, natural & social sciences and engineering to understand and solve environmental problems.
B. plan and conduct necessary experiments for use in analysis and design of environmental engineering systems.
C. recommend economically sustainable solutions and alternatives for an environmental engineering problem by including considerations of risk, uncertainty, sustainability, life-cycle principles, and environmental impacts.
D. use modern/advanced techniques, tools, and skills for environmental engineering practice and research.            
E. communicate effectively, to function with and lead/direct multidisciplinary teams and communities to achieve the goals.
F. understand concepts of professional practice, project management, and the roles and responsibilities of public institutions and private organizations pertaining to environmental policy and regulations.
G. understand ethical and societal responsibilities as environmental engineer.
H. recognize the need for, and an ability to engage in independent and reflective life-long learning.



  • M.Tech in Geotechnical Engineering
Program Educational Objectives
 
I. To prepare civil engineering graduate students for their professional careers as good geotechnical engineers - in academics/research, construction, consulting, design, development, regulation, etc.
II. To achieve/groom an ability to plan, innovate and design any geotechnical system, with an intelligent understanding and scientific/logical reasoning of theoretical bases of the appropriate standards/codal provisions in design, construction and maintenance
III. To impart practical perspectives of geotechnical engineering which will enable  geotechnical engineers to give techno-economically feasible and sustainable practical solutions to complex geotechnical problems in infrastructure development projects
IV. To imbibe a spirit of inquiry and life-long learning, as also collaborative and multidisciplinary work among graduates
V. To impart team-spirit, managerial and leadership qualities, entrepreneurial abilities and good ethical practices
